Little Acorns in a nutshell

what are we all about?

Little Acorns Early Years is a gentle Steiner Waldorf inspired group where creativity and exploration is nurtured in a homely environment. Come and join us in our Parent, Carer and Child Groups with painting, baking fresh bread and organic produce.

It is our belief that the first few years of childhood are a once in a life time window of opportunity for children to follow their individual interests, explore, invent, discover and revel in a love for learning. Little Acorns aims to allow children to develop at their own individual pace by following the natural rhythms and wonders of the world around us. Drawing inspiration from the Steiner Waldorf educational model, we aim to provide a setting where children can flourish socially, morally, emotionally, and physically.

What types of sessions are available?

There are two different early years groups in Ayr:

Little Acorns mainly based inside a homely room in St Leonard's Church taking place on Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:30am;

Little Acorns Outside based entirely outside at Corsehill Park & Gardens, taking place on Wednesdays 12.30-2.30pm.

What do I need to bring?

Little Acorns inside session includes an organic snack, cup of tea and craft materials. As we encourage parents and children to leave their shoes on the shoe rack you may like to bring along some cosy socks or slippers. We will also be encouraging outdoor play both within the grounds of the church and at nearby Corsehill Gardens. We will notify you in advance of visits to Corsehill and recommend you bring suitable clothing and footwear for you and your children.

Little Acorns Outside sessions include an organic snack and cup of tea plus any props or equipment to help the children explore. We often manage our garden patch and so bringing a small trowel or fork is useful. It is important that you and your child are prepared for whatever the weather throws at you. Please ensure you are both in warm, waterproof clothing. Layers are best and wool is
a winner for both keeping warm and dry. Fleece-lined or
padded all-in-one suits prevent cold drafts from spoiling the fun. Please remember that wellies are very thin and cold if not combined with thick socks. And don't forget a hat for cold or sun.

How to come along?

Sessions cost £5 per child and £3 per sibling which includes fresh organic snack and any craft materials. SPACES LIMITED. BOOKING ESSENTIAL. Please get in touch with Emily and Katie if you would like further information
